The Bristol-based kitchen and bedroom supplier Caple has issued an urgent safety notice to consumers having identified a possible risk of gas leakage on a number of gas hobs manufactured by the company after 4 August 2018.

According to the safety notice posted on Caple's website and a further Product Safety Report on Gov.UK, the elbow on the connecting pipework of affected gas hobs can fail, resulting in a significant gas leak regardless of whether the hob is switched on and in use.

The risk could vary from poisoning (from inhalation) to cases of fire or explosion

Consumers who own any of the affected models are urged to contact Caple either by telephoning their support line on 0800 041 8842 or by email to hobsupport@caple.co.uk

The company promises a free inspection and, if required, modification by replacing the affected gas pipe.

The affected models are:

  • C749G
  • C750G
  • C767G
  • C768G
  • C774G
  • C775G

Further information can be found on Caple’s website HERE and on the Gov.UK website HERE.
